The Ditty Bops... [ 2005-04-23 ] Matt and I've been listening to this band a lot lately. It has kind of a 30's folk swing sound to it. If that makes any sense at all. Take a look at their cool site: the ditty bops. beware! It's very addictive. |
Feeling Catty? [ 2005-04-21 ] Heh heh...take a look at this site: gofugyourself It's one of my personal favorites, not only for the sheer ridiculousness of the outfits, but also for the bitchy commentary, which I lap right up. Meow. |
Bush's Nuclear Option... [ 2005-04-21 ] Ok, now I hate to preach, but this is something that's really bugging me. From what I've been reading President Bush is trying to push through his "Nuclear Option." Essentially this would eliminate the filibuster allowing one party to completely seize control of the government. Here's a little more info on why filibusters are so important:
Throughout our nation's history, the filibuster has been one of the strongest tools in our government's system of checks and balances. It prevents a simple majority in power from fully imposing its agenda on the entire country and gives voice to a beleaguered minority in Congress. It is extremely vital that we act on this now and block the Nuclear Option. It isn't inconceivable that such things as our 40 hour work week, environmental protections, and the right to privacy will be endangered if Bush's nominees are pushed through. For more information on what you can do to act check out this site: moveon. Please do all you can to oppose this. Spread the word. Write letters and call your senators. This is something that affects both parties not just democrats. Even Republican moderates like John McCain are speaking out against the Nuclear Option. This is about keeping the balance of power, not handing it on a silver platter to one party. |
