Ok, yeah, I really didn’t explain this…at all, actually, and I meant to! There again, posting these late and half awake makes for strange and confusing comics. Anyhoo, in the original book version of Brahm Stoker’s Dracula, ol’ V-Imp (vlad the impaler) traps Johnathan Harker in his castle and as a means of keeping an eye on the poor guy, he goes through his personal items. Johnathan tries to send messages to his GF Mina in shorthand, and also keeps a journal in shorthand. When Dracula finds the journal and letters and realizes he can’t read them, he gets really annoyed. He’s all “DRAT!!!!” and stuff. It’s a great unintentionally funny moment. Or, well, at least it was for me.
So, there you have it. It’s kind of an obscure reference and I really shoud’ve explained it. Have you ever read it? It is amazingly good.
Did you really just call Vlad V-Imp? That is awesome. And it reminds me of how Dracula signs his name at the beginning of the movie version with Gary Oldman. “D.”
Hey, want to buy my books? There are two volumes available and they're on sale at Jetpack Press. You can buy online and if you ask Ralph when you order, and he remembers to tell me, I'll put a sketch in the book and personalize it for you.
That’s still funny. 🙂
I’ve pondered this for an hour…..I don’t get it!
Thanks! 😀
